In December 2000, Baku’s Icherisheher, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, became the first site in Azerbaijan to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

- Live on Nizami Street, known for shopping. The street’s history dates back to 1864 before Baku’s urban planning project. It runs from west to east across the city center. It starts in the highland part of the city from Abdulla Shaig Street and ends in Sabit at the railway track. Orujov Street, near the monument of Shah Ismail Khatai in the “Black City”. The total length of the street is 3538 meters.
- Fountains Square – a public square in the center of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The square was formerly known as Parapet and is still often referred to by the same name. The name “Fountains Square” originates from the numerous fountains built across the square during the Soviet period. The square is especially a gathering place after working hours and on weekends.
- A walk along the Baku Boulevard stretching along the south-facing bay of the Caspian Sea. Traditionally begins from Azadliq Square and continues west beyond Icherisheher. Since 2012, the New Boulevard (Yeni Bulvar) has effectively doubled in length, reaching 3.75 km.
- The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, located in Baku, exhibits Azerbaijani carpets and rugs using traditional and modern weaving techniques and materials. The pentagonal complex with a courtyard surrounded by cells for monks and a tetra-column altar in the center was built in the 17th – 18th centuries.
- Trip to “Yanar Dag” – “Burning Mountain” located 25 km north of Baku on the Absheron Peninsula. The word “Yanar Dag” literally means “Blazing Mountain.” Flames dance on stones and the floor. Yanar Dag is a continuously burning natural gas fire on the hillside of a mountain near Baku, Azerbaijan, known as the “Land of Fire.”
- The excursion continues with a visit to the Heydar Aliyev Center – a mesmerizing example of modern architecture in Baku, Azerbaijan. Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the 57,500 m2 building complex is known for its flowing, curved style avoiding sharp angles. The center is named after Heydar Aliyev, who was the First Secretary of Soviet Azerbaijan from 1969-1982 and the President of Azerbaijan from October 1993 to October 2003. (Photoshoot outside)
